Certain names resonate strongly within the halls of Australian wine history. Jim Barry Wines is one of those names. This family owned winery has helped helped shape South Australia’s Clare Valley as a benchmark in the world of Riesling and cemented its place as one of Australia’s premier wine regions.
Most recently it was awarded the honour of being Matthew Jukes Austalian Winery of the Year for 2016/17.
The story of clos Clare is quickly growing into what will be one of the great wine stories of the Clare Valley. It began in 1986 when the Barry family purchased the Florita vineyard from the then owners, Leo Buring. This vineyard produced, for many years, the great wines of Leonay and Richmond Grove.
Warilto, the homestead on the property, was sub-divided and offered as a custodianship to artist and building conservator, Ian Saunders. A small 5-acre parcel of the vineyard was included in the sub-division and clos Clare was born.
21 years later the land was purchased once again by Peter and Sue Barry in 2007 along with this boutique brand run by their sons Sam and Tom.

Pauletts' famed cellar door with its magnificent views, has become even better with the official opening of its 'Bush Devine Café'. Opened by the Hon. Minister Brock and surrounded by family and friends, it was a fabulous night celebrating the realisation of a long-awaited dream for the Paulett family.
The Café is inspired and partly sourced from the adjacent Bush Food Garden which contains over 80 different species of plants. Local revered chef Roger Graham has devised a unique and mouthwatering menu to complement Pauletts' diverse range of wines.
The first Australian winery to produce handcrafted wine and beer on site, Knappstein Enterprise Winery & Brewery, is located in South Australia’s Clare Valley. Building on a rich brewing heritage that dates back to 1878, Knappstein crafts premium lager in the same landmark building that quenched the thirst of copper miners in the late 1800s. As one of the most recognisable and popular Clare Valley wineries, Knappstein’s award-winning wines reflect the true nature of the region, showcasing quality fruit at its purist and most vibrant.

Sevenhill was settled by the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) in 1851 to produce sacramental wine. While this tradition continues today, Sevenhill is also regarded for its premium table wines, which are recognised for the regional qualities that have put the Clare Valley on the world stage.
